Privacy Policy

You can browse SocialOrbit without an account — we have no logins or registration. But we are not a zero-data site, and this page says plainly what we do store.

Cookies We Set

Browsing the public site sets two cookies. Both are marked HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Lax, so neither can be read by scripts and neither is sent to other sites.

• iya_anon_id — a short pseudonymous identifier, stored for 30 days. It is generated by hashing your IP address together with your browser type, so it does not contain your IP address, but it is derived from it and is capable of distinguishing one visitor from another. We use it to group planner conversations into sessions and to apply a daily usage limit to our AI planner so a single visitor cannot exhaust the service.
• iya_planner_sid — the key to your planner conversation, stored for 180 days and refreshed each time you use the planner. It is a random value with no meaning of its own; it is what lets you close the tab and pick the conversation back up later.

A second cookie, session, exists only to keep site administrators signed in to our internal dashboard. It is never set for ordinary visitors.

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share this data with advertisers or data brokers.

Information Stored On Your Device

If you use the journey planner, it saves your conversation and a session key in your browser's local storage, under keys beginning iya_planner_map_. This is what lets you return and pick up where you left off. It stays on your device until you clear your browser data or press Reset in the planner.

The AI Planner

When you chat with the planner, we store on our servers: the messages you send, the planner's replies, which places it suggested, and which pins you clicked. This is how the planner remembers the conversation across turns and how we work out whether its suggestions are any good.

Please do not enter personal or sensitive details into the planner. It only needs to know what kind of outing you want.

Your messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate replies. They are handled under Anthropic's terms and are not used to train models under our configuration.

Analytics

Our pages include a Cloudflare Web Analytics tag, which measures aggregate page views without cookies and without tracking individuals across sites.

Remembering Your Preferences

The planner has a Remember my preferences for next time checkbox. It is off unless you turn it on.

With it on, we keep a short list of the options you have picked — things like date_night or live_music — so the planner can open with a better guess next time. We store only these fixed option values, never anything you type in your own words. Unticking the box deletes what was stored, immediately.

How Long We Keep It

The iya_anon_id cookie expires after 30 days; iya_planner_sid after 180 days from your last visit.

Our retention period for planner conversations is 180 days from your last activity. We should be straight with you that automatic deletion is not yet running on a schedule, so conversations older than that may still exist until it is switched on. You can ask us to delete yours now — see below.

Event and Venue Data

Event and venue information on this site is gathered from publicly available sources such as listing sites, venue pages and public social media, and presented for discovery. If you are an organiser or venue and want your listing removed, contact us and we will remove it.

Affiliate Links

Affiliate links are currently disabled sitewide. If we enable them, some pages may link to ticketing or booking partners, those links will take you to sites governed by their own privacy policies, and we will count clicks in aggregate rather than tying them to an individual. We will update this page before that happens.

Your Rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it. Because we have no accounts, the practical way to identify your data is to send us the session key from the planner — press Reset only after you have copied it, as resetting clears it. You can also clear the iya_anon_id cookie and your browser's local storage at any time, which stops us associating future visits with earlier ones.
